Elegant design meets flexible functionality in the new IXA lighting series, conceived by international design studio
Foster + Partners for Italian
Artemide. The lamps are characterized by their unique design concept, which has balance, equilibrium and harmony as the central focus of every decision made about the visual design language and functional layout of the lamp. When designing IXA, Foster + Partners were inspired by the dynamic sculptures of American sculptor Alexander Calder, which encapsulate the idea of elegant balance through precision and refined craftsmanship. Each of the series' various table, floor and wall lights share the same spherical lamp head and slender frame, while some of these are equipped with a counterweight to create a beautiful interplay between lightness and heaviness in the contrasting shapes.
A key principle in the design of the beautiful new IXA lighting collection is the interplay between the visual aesthetics of the lights and their functional properties. Thanks to the ingenious combination of weights and counterweights, each lamp can be rotated in several ways, allowing both the frame and the lamp head to be adjusted and the direction of the light to be changed. Several of the lights are equipped with built-in dimmers on the lamp head. These allow you to adjust the light intensity steplessly up or down, giving you flexibility and control over the lighting itself.
Each of the different lamp types within the IXA series comes in three color variants: white, black and yellow, all in a beautiful monochrome color scheme that beautifully accentuates the artistic expression of the lamp.
