Alberto Meda was born in Tremezzina in 1945. In 1969, he received his master's degree in mechanical engineering at the Politecnico in Milan.
In 1973 he became technical director of Kartell, responsible for the development of furniture and plastic projects.
In 1979, he became a freelance industrial designer for a wide variety of companies such as Alfa Romeo Auto, Alias, Alessi, Arabia-Finland, Cinelli, Colombo Design, Brevetti Gaggia, JCDecaux, Ideal Standard, Luceplan, Legrand, Mandarina Duck, Omron Japan, Philips, Olivetti and Vitra.
From 1983 to 1987 he was a lecturer in industrial technology at Domus Academy. He has held seminars at the International Design Symposium in Fukui, at the Workshop Design Quest in Osaka and at the Design Center in Tokyo.
From 1995 he was a lecturer at the Politecnico in Milan with the "Corso di Laurea di Disegno Industriale" in a design laboratory. From 1995 to 1997 he was also a member of the board of the Designlabor Bremerhaven at the Institut für System- und Produktgestaltung.
Since 2003 he has been a lecturer at IUAV in Venice with design workshops and has also given several lectures in Chicago, St. Louis. Louis, Washington University, Stockholm, Miami, San Paulo, Ulm, Istanbul, Toronto and Mexico.
Alberto Meda is a highly recognized designer and this is evident in the awards he has received over the years:

Some of his products are part of the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art of Toyama and since 1994 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The design collection includes the Light Light chair from 1987, the Soft Light chair from 1989, the Longframe chair from 1991, and the On-Off lamp from Luceplan from 1988.
