With LC Shutters Pendant, Louise Campbell has aimed to create a simultaneously comfortable and atmospheric lighting solution for private and public spheres alike. The starting point was a flat aluminium plate, worked into the bell-shaped shade. The shade’s pattern is cut and pressed into interacting layers, between which light slips out in a highly precise pattern. The 3 mm thick shade creates a robust lamp, making it well-suited for everything from children’s rooms to CEO hallways. The softened light creates a comfortable atmosphere in the room. LC Shutters is beautiful regardless of whether it is on or off.
Louise Campbell’s idea was to create a lamp with a minimum number of processes. The starting point is a single shade. Manufacturing is literally cut down to three base processes: the turning of the shade, the pressing of the pattern, and painting.
And here it is - LC Shutters. The name establishes associations with the atmospheric light impressions you get when you take an evening walk through a southern European town. The shutters are either closed or ajar and rays of light escape to create a decorative façade. It’s private and intimate, in contrast to the incredibly open windows in northern Europe.
This is the fourth lamp in the fruitful partnership between Louise Campbell and Louis Poulsen.
