Flowerpot - an eternal classic
Verner Panton was one of Denmark's most exuberant designers of the 20th century. His relationship with the Danish design tradition differed from the furniture designers of the 1950s and 1960s, such as Hans J. Wegner, Finn Juhl and Arne Jacobsen, who had great international success. While working in wood and natural materials, Panton experimented with new materials such as plastic, plexiglass, steel, foam rubber and other synthetics. Today, he is best known for his wild designs with many colors and an almost scientific approach to material understanding and techniques.
In 1969, his experimental approach to design resulted in the iconic Flowerpot lamp. It was first presented at an exhibition in Cologne, where Verner Panton was commissioned to design a showroom on a yacht. Today, the exhibition remains one of the most talked about and spectacular exhibitions in design history.
The beautiful VP1 pendant was originally intended for the hospitality industry, but quickly found its way into homes around the world, where the beautiful timeless pendant still adorns today. The lamp's downward light is a good choice above the dining table, where it provides a nice light without glare.
The VP3 table lamp's timeless and simple design fits into most homes. With a 23 cm shade and a small base, the lamp can easily be brought into the interior without taking up too much space. For example, place the lamp on a small chest of drawers or shelf in the living room where it supports the cozy atmosphere.

New life in a true classic
Verner Panton's lamp was originally intended for the restaurant industry, but after the exhibition, demand grew rapidly and before long the Flowerpot pendant could be found above the dining table in many private homes. Based on the great success of the Flowerpot pendant, Verner Panton designed the Flowerpot garden lamp and Flowerpot table lamp two years later in 1971.
The Flowerpot lamp really made a comeback in the 1990s, when interest in 1960s and 1970s design resurfaced. Back then, you had to find a Flowerpot at flea markets or online, but with the relaunch of the Flowerpot in 2003, &Tradition brought a true design icon back to life. Today, the pendant is produced in the two original sizes; Flowerpot VP1 Pendant 23cm and Flowerpot VP2 Pendant 50cm, as well as the medium size (launched in 2019) Flowerpot VP7 Pendant 37cm. In addition, the table lamp is available in two different models; Flowerpot VP3 table lamp and Flowerpot VP4 table lamp.
We continue to ride the retro wave and embrace the 70s design that easily integrates into Scandinavian homes. We therefore value a Verner Panton lamp in the home and there is still great interest in the Flowerpot VP1 pendant and Flowerpot VP3 table lamp.
Our very own Flowerpot
The wonderful lamp is already available in many beautiful colors, but at Lampmasters.ie we want a Flowerpot in our own color. In collaboration with &tradition, we have therefore got our own Flowerpot VP3 Table Lamp and Flowerpot VP1 Pendant in Soft Green.
Taken directly from the rolling meadow, Soft Green is a light yellow-based green color. The neutral and sophisticated color gives a sense of calm and tranquility and is easy to integrate into the Scandinavian style. The new lamp adds personality to your interior design while providing a pleasant glare-free light - whether you choose to place it in your home or business.
The color green fits perfectly into society's increased awareness of self-care, wellness and reconnecting with nature. The desire to incorporate nature into interior design has come into focus to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere where you can retreat and recharge.
Choosing a color is never an easy task, but after much consideration and thorough trend research, we have no doubt that the calm color combined with Verner Panton's gorgeous lamp will be a huge hit.
