The classic and sought-after pendant light is famously created by architect Poul Henningsen and produced by Danish lighting company Louis Poulsen. A collaboration that the two maintained throughout Henningsen's life.
Having already developed his three-screen system in the late 1920s, he began further development of this particular system. As electric light also evolved, his mission to ensure glare-free light was challenged. Further development meant that the pendant got a revolutionary five-shade system that made the lamp completely glare-free.
Launched in 1958, the iconic PH 5 pendant light is perfect above a dining table. A position that the pendant is often seen in - because it is a true classic in many Danish homes. PH 5 mini was released in 2017. The mini model measures 30 cm, where the original version is 50 cm in diameter.
With the 60th anniversary of Poul Henningsen iconic five-shade system, the lighting company launched a new color version. While the classic pendant is available in white, blue and red, the new versions are available in shades within the pink, blue and green color palette - and many more.\ You can now match the pendant to any style or room. Or, conversely, use one or more of the colored versions as a contrast to the bright and Nordic home.
In 2017, the original pendant was released in a smaller version. Where the original version measures 50 cm in diameter, the mini version measures only 30 cm. This makes it possible to utilize the pendant's fantastic lighting properties in smaller contexts as well.\ The mini pendants look great above the kitchen table - use several in the same shades or combine them across colors and enjoy the thoughtful design and glare-free light. Hang them also in the hallway or long corridor.
