The architect lamp - Flexible lighting for the whole home
Today, architectural lamps come in many different shapes and sizes for the home and continue to be found in many offices and workplaces. We no longer have the same need for a desk in the home as most people do their work at a laptop. However, the architectural lamp is still seen in interior design in many different versions and has gained a lot of attention again due to the constant focus on retro design. When it comes to lighting in Scandinavian interiors, there is a continued focus on functional design, while paying close attention to iconic design classics. The architectural lamp is alive and well, but is now used with energy-saving LED bulbs instead of the incandescent bulb. It keeps popping up in new interpretations and we continue to apply it in new contexts. Although it's almost 90 years since the architectural lamp first saw the light of day, it remains more relevant in modern interior design than ever before. Whatever your practical lighting needs are, they can be met with an architectural lamp; floor, ceiling, wall or table - there is a model for every location in your home. There are therefore countless possibilities for using the lamp in the home.
AS A BEDSIDE LAMP If you want a flexible and functional bedside lamp with a modern look, the architect lamp is ideal. Take the popular Original 1227 wall light for example, which with its impressive reach can also easily be used if you have an elevating bed. If you need a bedside lamp that can also be used as a reading light, the architect lamp is the perfect choice. With the bright and concentrated light, you don't have to strain your eyes to read. At the same time, you get a lamp that doesn't illuminate the entire room and doesn't disturb your partner who wants to sleep.
IN THE KITCHEN When choosing lights for your kitchen, it's important that you get good task lighting over your workspace. An architectural wall or ceiling light is the obvious choice if you want flexibility in your lighting. From Lampe Gras, the 302 Ceiling Light or 213 Wall Light are robust and simple solutions that provide a fantastic light for packing lunches or making dinner.

TO THE OFFICE In the last few years, the home office has had a renaissance! More hours are spent at home at your desk, so it's essential that you get the right lighting for your home. A brand like Leucos understood the task and created the JJ lamp series. The series consists of pendants, wall lights, floor lamps and table lamps. The latter works particularly well in the office both at home or at work due to its size and flexibility - and is therefore the ideal lighting for your desk. All the lamps in the series are a modern interpretation of the classic architectural lamp design, and the table lamps in particular represent what is characterized as a classic architectural lamp.
Just like a classic architectural lamp, the JJ table lamp has the same flexibility, as both the arms and shade can be adjusted in different directions, allowing you to better target your lighting to your specific needs. In addition, the table lamps are also equipped with a dimmable LED light, so you can adjust the light intensity to suit the day and evening hours spent sitting at your desk. Plus, the elegant table lamp design comes in different sizes and colors and with or without a base, so you can get exactly the model that best suits your style and needs. Decorate your desk with this classic that serves as both a practical and decorative decor element that never goes out of style!
IN THE LIVING ROOM A good light is especially needed in connection with the sofa group or the favorite armchair where you often sit with a good book or knitting. With Archi from Nordic Living, you get a fantastic and flexible light. The lamp with clamp function can easily be mounted on a shelf or on the edge of a table and easily moved again if needed. It comes in a variety of colors and fits into any style.
IN THE NURSERY The desk in the children's room needs to be well lit for homework, drawing pictures or small creative projects. Type 75 Table Lamp is the classic architect lamp on a base in several eye-catching color combinations. With the Type 75 table lamp, you get a decorative and practical lamp for the nursery that suits both you and your child. The unique table lamp is available in two different sizes, with a maximum height of 50 centimeters and 66 centimeters respectively. It can therefore also easily be used as a bedside lamp on the nightstand.

FOR THE PERSONAL INTERIOR In modern interior design, the architect lamp is used in many new contexts. One of the more eye-catching and creative interpretations is the giant Tolomeo Mega Floor lamp. Artemide's Tolomeo range is one of the most popular architectural lights and has won countless awards since it was first introduced in 1987.
The distinctive floor lamp has a height and reach that allows the lamp to be placed over the dining table or as lighting over the coffee table. It requires no wall or ceiling mounting and is therefore easy to integrate into the interior design. As with a smaller architect lamp, the light from the large architect lamp can be adjusted and customized if, for example, you need to move your dining table when you have guests. The lamp creates both freedom in your interior design and a personal expression that is guaranteed to make an impression.
THE REVOLUTIONARY TABLE LAMP FROM THE 1930S
French engineer Bernard Albin-Gras designed the revolutionary desk lamp in the early 1920s, with the bendable arm with ball joint. His invention was widely used in offices, laboratories, sewing rooms and other places where flexible light was needed for work in the following years. Among architects, the lamp was extremely popular and quickly became widespread. The lamp was therefore named; "The Architect Lamp". Bernard Gras sold the rights to his lamp and thus started production of the first Gras lamp.
Another engineer, George Carwadine, replaced the flexible ball joints in 1932 with the spring construction - consisting of four springs that could be moved by light touch and still maintain its position. The lampshade focused the light around a work area, while the heavy base created stability in the lamp - even when the full range of the lamp was utilized. A few years later, the lamp was put into production under the name "Anglepoise 1208" and then the more elegant version "Anglepoise 1227" which is still produced and sold today.
The architectural lamp is no longer the orange retro lamp that has been a fixture above many desks for many years. Among our selection of architectural lights, there are so many interpretations - some are more true to the classic retro design than others, while some have a modern Scandinavian look, in several different colors. Common to all architectural lights is their flexible arm and concentrated light that can be used throughout the home.
