Since 1988, Herstal lamps have been lighting up homes across the Nordic region. The story of the Danish lighting brand began back in 1987 when married couple Lotte and Martin Herstal moved to Odense and took over a lamp shop in the western part of the beautiful city. From there they were retailers for a while - but the dream was always to design their own lamps - which is why they started selling their own lamps the very next year.
The idea at the time was to create lighting that had a twinkle in its eye, fit in metropolitan city homes and used halogen bulbs. The recipe is the same today - except for the halogen light, which has of course been replaced by LED - and Herstal's many wonderful lamps have earned them a place among the great Scandinavian classics!
When you say chandeliers, many people probably think of the old, classic and opulent models that usually hang above the monarch's long tables and in the spiral staircases of estates and castles. However, it's far from the only kind there is.
Herstal offers several different models that do away with the classic Venetian glass and candle model and introduce the warmth and sparkle that Herstal is known for. All chandelier models use stylish and modern designs and are extremely elegant above the dining table where there are high ceilings and in other rooms where you need impressive designs.
Herstal is a classic Scandinavian brand, and therefore Herstal naturally has a high respect for materials. Many of Herstal's lamps use brass and wood, for example - but one material in particular recurs in the lamp manufacturer's portfolio: glass.
A huge amount of Herstal lamps use glass, and it is glass of a high quality. A large part of the glass screens are opalized to ensure that you are not dazzled and to ensure that the light is well diffused.
