Behind SLAMP
Roberto Ziliani founded SLAMP in 1994. His goal was to create something new in Italian design. A company that offers quality lamps and lighting, where a craftsman with an eye for detail will fulfill the quality of industrial production and modern interior design.
The SLAMPS range offers a wide range of lamps and lighting designs for all generations with a twist of something innovative and experimental. The collaboration with the many designers has earned SLAMP several international design awards and in May 2012 they received the Red Dot award for the Veli lamp series.
For SLAMP, young designers are crucial for innovation and new inspiration. Thinking outside the box and using alternative materials and ideas sets the standard for good design.
Since then, SLAMP's growth has never stopped. Today, they are one of the most representative brand names in decorative designer lighting and lamps; a reference point for anyone who wants to possess a highly coveted, original, exclusive object, but within everyone's reach.
Francesco Paretti
Francesco Paretti was born in Terni and graduated in industrial design from the University of La Sapienza in Rome.
Francesco Paretti has served as a design consultant for many large companies, designing products either independently or together with important designers and stylists such as Stefano Giovannoni, Anna Gili, Gai Mattiolo and others. In 1997 and 1998 he won the goldsmith's award San Valentino Oro ('San Valentino Gold') and in 2003 the international design competition Aprilia Design Award 2002. His work has been featured in numerous design exhibitions around the world.
Nigel Coates
Nigel Coates constantly challenges the meaning of architecture and objects. His mission is to bring equal parts art and intelligence to architecture and design, and whatever the space or object, Coates is sure to fill it with passion and irony.
Shortly after graduating from the Architectural Association, Coates became a unique creator of design and his inventive idiom has been translated into many buildings, interiors and exhibitions around the world - especially in England and Japan. His more experimental works have been shown in both art and design contexts, including exhibitions such as Alkalbion at the Architectural Association in 1984, Ecstacity at the same venue in 1992, Mixtacity at Tate Modern in 2007 and Hypnerotosphere at the 11th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2008.
Coates is in high demand as a lighting and furniture designer and works with many Italian companies. Since 2008 he has been art director at the Italian design company SLAMP.
Lentiflex®, Opalflex® & Crystalflex®
Many of SLAMP's products use special materials that SLAMP has invented and patented itself. The various 'flex' materials are technopolymers - plastics that have been refined to achieve properties not typically found in plastics. SLAMPS patented materials can be characterized by being rigid yet flexible, incredibly durable and recyclable.
Lentiflex® is SLAMP's transparent material that is as clear as glass. Opalflex® is, as the name suggests, the semi-transparent material that mimics the look we know from opalized glass. Crystalflex® is transparent like Lentiflex**®**, but with small refractions like crystal glass.
