Flowerpot
The Flowerpot series is inspired by the flower power revolution of the 60s and 70s, and &Tradition still sells this classic to this day. The original lamps and colors as conceived by Verner Panton have been spiced up with new additions such as copper and light matte grey. After the Flowerpot came out, it was hard not to notice colorful, playful and happy pendants hanging in restaurants and exhibitions, and soon they were in everyone's homes.
Over time, the VP1 pendant has become part of a family with the advent of the large VP7 pendant, the VP10 pendant, the two table lamps known as VP3 and VP4 as well as the fine portable version VP9, the wall light VP8 and the floor lamp VP12.

Flowerpot lamp and &Tradition
With its two semicircles hanging opposite each other, the Flowerpot has long proven its enduring design qualities and is as much a part of today as it was in the happy 60s. The diameter of the upper sphere is exactly twice the diameter of the lower sphere, making them perfectly balanced. Flowerpot won the Gute Form Bundespreis in 1972.
As early as 1968, renowned Danish designer Verner Panton designed one of his countless masterpieces. Inspired by the contemporary Flower Power movement, he set out to create a lamp in a welcoming and organic design. Of course, it should also be adorned with bright and happy colors. The result was the iconic Flowerpot lamp. The drawings were already in place long before the lamp saw the light of day as part of Panton's total design for an interior exhibition in Cologne, Germany. But it wasn't until this exhibition that it could finally go into production, and only in striking red and orange colors. A classic was born, and the design's various forms - as a table lamp and pendant respectively - are hugely popular and in demand today.
Verner Panton achieved great success abroad but never really broke through in contemporary Denmark. His experimental expression and penchant for strong colors stood in direct contrast to both contemporary and former prominent Danish design names such as Hans J. Wegner, Børge Mogensen and Finn Juhl. Their strong and clear focus on natural materials had become the epitome of good design, so Panton's plastics, acrylics and colors didn't fit in. However, he has since gained a lot of recognition - also nationally. Today, he is world-famous, and his lamp designs in particular have made a huge impact in homes all over the world.
In 2003, the Danish interior and design manufacturer &Tradition resumed production of the Flowerpot lamps. With the relaunch, the lamps have made a comeback and are more popular than ever before. As an added bonus, the company has made sure they are now available in a variety of colors and in both matte and glossy finishes.
