Antonio Citterio was born in Meda in 1950 and has designed the Kelvin and Lastra lamps for Flos. In industrial design, Citterio works for Italian and foreign companies such as Flexform, Flos, Iittala, Inda, Kartell and Vitra.
He graduated in architecture from Milan and opened his studio in 1972, where he started his architecture and interior design business. He is a highly recognized architect and has won several architectural competitions.
Between 1987 and 1996 he worked with Terry Dwan and together they created buildings in Europe and Japan.
In 1999, Antonio Citterio & Partners was founded by Citterio and Patricia Viel; a multidisciplinary practice for architectural design, industrial design and graphic design.
The company develops projects for residential complexes, apartment buildings, hotels, shopping centers, industrial plants, restructuring of public buildings, planning workspaces, offices and showrooms, and it is also operational in corporate communication - implementing corporate image projects, fittings and graphics.
In 2005, Antonio Citterio & Partners won the competition for a hotel project in the HafenCity district of Hamburg and was awarded 2nd prize in the international architectural competition for hotel facilities in the new exhibition grounds by Rho-Pero.
In the same year, they received 2nd prize for the Neumühlen project from the Hamburg Architektur Preis and a special mention from the Deutscher Architektur Preis.
In 2005, Citterio received 2nd prize in the design competition for Parco Levante Cesenatico and won the international architectural competition for the renovation of the Ferrante Aporti building (former Italian Post Office) in Milan.
In 2007 he received 2nd prize at the international architectural competition for the Diocesano Museum in Milan. He also received the Royal Designer for Industry award from the Royal Society for the Promotion of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce in London the same year.
From 2006 Antonio Citterio became a professor at the Accademia di architettura dell'Università della Svizzera Italiana and from 2007 he became a member of the Italian Design Council.
