Frank Kerdil

Born: December 16, 1946.\ Renowned works: Pineapple lamp, Illumin lamp, New Worker pendant and award-winning product and graphic design.\ Education: Graphic designer.

Frank Kerdil was born in Odense in 1946. Trained as a graphic designer, he co-owned an advertising agency from 1984 to 1998, where he undoubtedly honed his aesthetic sense and design skills - and in 1998 the seeds of a career change were sown when Kerdil turned to product design.

He founded his own company and started working with everything from developing and designing ideas to products and concepts - and sometimes even lecturing on creative thinking. However, it should be one specific company that we in the lamp world know Frank Kerdil from: namely DybergLarsen.

At DybergLarsen, Kerdil created the ever-popular Pineapple lamp. This beautiful lamp began its existence as a pendant light, but is now available in a multitude of variants. There are pendant lights, table lamps, floor lamps and even wall lights. Pineapple uses square plates that, when connected, resemble a pineapple - and DybergLarsen and Frank Kerdil have reimagined the iconic shape again and again, so today you can get the pineapple with leaves or even upside down.

Frank Kerdil's designs have always existed around his mantra "When more of the same is not enough." This phrase boils down to the simple thesis that there must be a good reason to make a new product, which can cover minor changes such as function, choice of material, production method, application area, shape or similar.
