LED Spots

Spot lighting can be both practical and beautiful in many areas of the home. They can be mounted on any surface such as the wall, ceiling and even the floor. There are also two types of spotlights that are mounted in different ways. One is surface mounted and the other is recessed. Where a surface-mounted spotlight can be mounted directly on the surface - as the name suggests - a recessed spotlight must be mounted inside the surface itself. It is a mounting that gives a very nice and very stylish look because the light surface of the spotlight is at the same level as the surface itself. LED is a form of light source that ensures minimal power consumption while generating a minimal amount of heat. A perfect light source for recessed spotlights that are close to other materials and are often on for longer periods of time.

Spotlight with LED

This type of spotlight is particularly practical due to its energy-saving properties. The technology has gotten so good over the years that the light is no longer in any way sharp or has a strange glow. Do you want dimmable LEDs? It exists, but there are several things to be aware of. The technology is still quite new, so you need to be sure that your dimmer can be used with LED. At the same time, pay attention to the number of volts and other technical measures - consult an electrician if necessary.

Unlike halogen bulbs, LED spotlights are more energy efficient and have a longer lifespan, which is what makes them so popular. When choosing an LED spotlight, it's also particularly worth considering the Ra value they have. This has a major impact on how good the color rendering of the bulb is, and therefore how you experience the colors in the given environment, which can be crucial in a photo studio or gallery, for example.

In addition to the Ra value, the IP rating of your chosen LED spotlight should also be taken into account, especially if they are to be placed in humid environments. Here, IP and the two following digits indicate how resistant the spotlights are to dust and water. If your spotlights are not to be used in a wet room, an IP20 is appropriate, whereas an IP44 and above is perfect for wet areas both indoors and outdoors. Check out our selection of outdoor spotlights here!

Next, you can also consider what material your spotlights come in, as this can have a big impact on how well each spotlight complements your interior design style and how well they handle harsh weather outside. An outdoor LED spotlight can also help bring bright and beautiful light to your outdoor areas at the front door, on the terrace or by the garage, making it easier for you to see where you're going, as well as providing a warm welcome for you and your guests.

Recessed spotlights

The small light sources can really create mood and atmosphere in the home. Because even though they are quite small in size, they provide an unrivaled glow that gives a focused and concentrated light. Although built into the surface, the light source is positioned so that it shines significantly under the glass and actually provides more light than you might expect.

When choosing this type, always remember to pay attention to how your new light sources will be mounted - how far in should they be and should there be insulation in between? Should they be buried? These are relevant questions when choosing a spotlight.

LED recessed spotlights provide warm, bright and energy-efficient light without compromising on light output. This makes them an attractive solution for both homes and businesses, as they are easy to install, provide good light and are energy efficient. New and modern recessed spotlights are also available with a high IP rating, which means they can also withstand dust and particles as well as damp areas such as basements, bathrooms and patios. You can read more about the different densities here and find out which density is best for your needs.

Recessed spotlights in the bathroom are also typically easy to install as they don't require any special installation height - however, you need to make sure your recessed spotlight has the right IP rating for wet rooms as there are specific rules regarding where in the room they can be placed and what ceiling height is needed for safe installation. If your recessed spotlights meet these requirements, you can safely install them in the ceiling or directly in the insulation and benefit from good, warm lighting.

When choosing your recessed spotlights, it's also a good idea to consider what kelvin they should have. Kelvin tells you something about the color temperature of your light bulbs, so the kelvin of your bulbs can have a big impact on the lighting and the mood of the room. A lower kelvin means you get a warmer light, whereas a higher kelvin means you get a cooler light. So if you're looking for focused lighting, you can choose a bulb with a high kelvin, and if you're looking for a more cozy atmospheric light, you can choose a bulb with a low kelvin. You can read much more about light bulbs here and find out which one is best for your needs.

Surface mounted spotlights

Unlike recessed spotlights, surface-mounted spotlights can be easily installed. They are simply mounted directly on top of the surface - whether it's the wall or ceiling. They come in different sizes, designs and colors, because this type of spotlight is very diverse. They are available as single light sources or as tracks on which multiple light sources are mounted, or even as ceiling lights.

The big advantage of this type is that they can be installed quickly and easily. No need to drill holes in the surface or think about insulation. You can do it all by yourself. Although installation is easier, the light is just as concentrated and focused as if you had recessed spotlights. The lighting experience is the same, but the design is different.

If you need spotlights for your kitchen, surface-mounted spotlights are a great choice as they are relatively easy to install, have a nicer design and provide effective light so you can better see the contents of your kitchen cabinets. In addition, surface-mounted spotlights are usually flexible, so you can continuously adjust the individual spots to point the light in the directions where you need it most. Or maybe you need a better overview of your wardrobe, where an LED ceiling spotlight is an optimal solution as it provides a clear and direct light to easily find what you need.

Dimmable LED spotlight

Today, most LED spots are dimmable, so you can control the light according to your needs and mood, creating either relaxed or focused lighting and atmosphere. This dimmable feature is also useful in the kitchen, as you may need a good task light when preparing food and a cozier light for dinner.
