The repatriations meant that many dusted off the old "computer room" and many realized how important a good working environment is for both productivity and well-being - and when you say working environment, you also say lights and lamps!
Desk lamps are not just desk lamps. There are so many factors to consider when choosing a new table lamp for the most productive table in your home - and there are so many things to think about. The right desk lamp will not only reduce eye strain when looking at the computer screen, but the right desk lamp will also become an important part of the interior design - after all, it stands side by side with the king of the office, the computer.

Choose the right desk lamp
When it comes to choosing the lamp that will live on your desk, you should first think about what you want it to do. This includes brightness and temperature, lamp type, design and other functionality. Below you can read more about how to choose the right lamp to meet your requirements in all categories:
- Brightness and temperature: In the cozy office where you spend an hour or two on a Saturday night, you can easily find a comfortable, subdued and warm light - but if you work a full day behind a screen, we recommend a lamp that mimics the temperature of daylight. Look for cold light!
- Lamp type: There's a reason why the architectural lamp has become synonymous with the desk lamp. The agile shape invites paperwork with its adjustable head and body, and the classic design is now available in many elegant shapes. The directional light is great for illuminating a keyboard or document - but if you work primarily at the computer, you might want to consider a wider light.
- Design: We spend more time than ever at the glow of the computer screen - which is why it's important to choose a lamp that truly deserves its place on the table at your home workspace. Make sure you choose a lamp that you think looks good and that brings joy every time you turn it on! If you live classically, a super-modern desk lamp can be the pattern breaker that sets the whole interior in contrast - but if you live super-modern, a timeless classic can really set the room in relief.
Other functionality: Once upon a time, everything your smartphone could do took up a larger shelving system. As camera, computer, phone, music player, internet connection, spirit level and GPS grow together into a single smart device, more and more elements of our lives have become multi-functional. Consider whether you want your lamp to do more than just light. There are desk lamps with wireless phone chargers, air meters and smart light technology.
Once you've decided on a lamp, all that's left to do is figure out where it will live! We recommend placing it behind your computer screen - and a good tip is to place it on the left side of the table if you're right-handed. This way you avoid shadows every time you move the mouse - and your primary eye is not disturbed by the light.
Make sure the light blends with natural light during the daytime to avoid contrast. In the evening, you can combine your desk lamp with a skylight or other ambient light to create a baseline in the room that your desk lamp works with.
