Corded dimmer switch

The ability to dim the lights has become very common in most homes. This is mainly because we have become more conscious of creating the right lighting for each individual need. An energetic light for work and a dimmed light for cozy moments. If you have a specific lamp you want to combine with a dimmer, a corded dimmer can be a good solution, whether it's a wall light, floor lamp or table lamp. Read much more about dimmers and dimmability in our article.

Light dimming

The practical possibilities that arise when you can dim your light are endless. Think of a romantic dinner under lamplight, where you can easily dim the light and adjust it to the other candles in the room. The coziness, romance and comfort can really kick in and create an atmosphere that is unmistakable.

Then think about after the romantic dinner when it's time to clear the plates. You may have had a little accident and a handful of crumbs have ended up on the floor. With a flick of a potentiometer, you give your lighting an overhaul and suddenly you're under the most practical and powerful light that helps you remove all the crumbs from the carpet while ensuring you don't trip over anything on your way to the kitchen.

LED dimmer for wire

The fact that the world today runs on LEDs instead of halogen and incandescent bulbs is no excuse to postpone your dimmer project. Installing a line dimmer on an LED lamp is easy as pie, and if you know how to install a dimmer on an old-fashioned lamp, you already know how to do it on a modern one. Because the concept is the same.

If you don't know anything about installing a dimmer and the idea of disassembling a beloved lamp's cord scares you, we highly recommend our dimmers and dimmability article on the subject! Here we go in-depth on the topic and also explain how to choose a dimmer that matches the wattage of your lamp.

Dimmer for lamp

Most people choose to install their dimmer on wire on wall, table and floor lamps, choosing it as a tactile counterpart to the smart bulb. One doesn't exclude the other, but you don't need to install a smart bulb in a lamp where you also have a dimmer on the cord.

Corded dimmer cannot be adjusted with automation, nor can it be adjusted with an app. On the other hand, you can actually feel the dimmer and you don't have to reach for your phone should the need for light adjustment arise. Simply reach for your damper and move the switch as needed.
