At a time where Arne Jacobsen and Hans Wegner were the figureheads of the design industry with their natural materials and simple shapes, Verner Panton’s focus on manmade materials and quick production methods was unheard of—Verner Panton’s goal was to introduce a bit more colour to the world, and it would be fair to say he succeeded. But the greatest Panton lamp of them all has to be Globe. Globe is unique and futuristic without compromising its classical and stylish appearance. It is complex, assembled by hand, and lovely beyond description—a true design icon if ever there was one.
