The most famous series from GUBI is the Bestlite lamp series, designed by Robert Dudley Best. The BL1 table lamp dates back to the 1930s, when Winston Churchill had the beautiful table lamp on his desk in Whitehall. This was the big breakthrough for the Bestlite series and today it is a true modern classic. The Bestlite series has a minimalist design that makes it perfect for any home, office, creative corner or nightstand. The story of GUBI
GUBI was founded in 1967 in Denmark by the Gubi brothers who had a passion for design and art. The company began as a small shop selling wicker furniture, but quickly began to expand its range and introduce new designs.
In the early years, GUBI primarily focused on importing and distributing furniture from other countries, but in the 1970s they started developing their own designs and collaborating with local designers and architects. GUBI's first big success came in the 1980s with the launch of a series of shelving and storage systems called "C-System".
In 2001, Jacob Gubi, the third generation of the family, took over the company and launched a new strategy to strengthen GUBI's position as an international design brand. Jacob Gubi began collaborating with some of the world's leading designers and architects, such as GamFratesi, and introduced new innovative materials and techniques into GUBI's designs.
One of GUBI's most successful designs came in 2012 with the launch of the Beetle Chair, created by design studio GamFratesi. The Beetle Chair quickly became an iconic design classic and won several awards, including "Design of the Year" by Wallpaper* Magazine.
Today, GUBI is an internationally recognized brand that sells its products in more than 40 countries worldwide.
