Enigma 545 was created by the Japanese designer Shoichi Uchiyama in 2003. Uchiyama presented a to Louis Poulsen with floating shades connected by ultrathin wires to give it a transparent and light expression. The Enigma was a good fit for the Louis Poulsen product philosophy and a new interpretation of the multiple shade system. Japanese grace combined with Scandinavian simplicity. The name Enigma is a reference to the seemingly freely-levitating shades when the lamp is on and seen from a distance.
