PH 3/3 Suspension Opal is a distinct design from Louis Poulsen, created in 1926 by Poul Henningsen, who designed hundreds of lamps using the iconic three-shade system that ensures impeccable quality of light no matter your needs. Henningsen often used numbers referring to the size of the lampshade on the individual fixtures. PH 5/5 is known as a ‘full-size’ pendant and characterised by its compact look. The ‘full-size’ pendants are glare-free and great for rooms with high ceilings, where they complement modern and traditional décor beautifully while contributing to the atmospheric light experience in shops, conference rooms, and restaurants. The more common ‘hybrid models’ like PH 3/3 are made to hang a little lower, such as above a dining or coffee table, where they create an ideal light and a warm, relaxed atmosphere.
This PH 3/3 Suspension Opal lamp is also characterised by its reflective three-shade system, and this model is available with white opal glass or soft-touch black-coated metal with a white inside. The opaque three-layer lampshades in blown opal glass create a warm glow, and the lovely white inside reflects a beautiful downlight. The combination of a metal upper lampshade and a middle and lower lampshade in opal glass gives you the best of both worlds. You can also insert the included base in matte glass to achieve a softer distribution of light.
