Switch Table Lamp Black is part of the amazing Switch collection, a cool reinterpretation of an old concept from , designed by the wonderful Japanese designer, Nendo.
The Switch collection is based on the classic abat jour style of lamp that most people are familiar with: a cylindrical fabric lampshade balanced on top of a thin lamp stand.
In this reinterpretation of the abat jour lamp, Nendo has played around with the materials to create a metal version of the iconic, cylindrical lampshade. This is available in either black or gold. In addition to the new look, the new material introduces a separate function, as the lampshade now works as a switch. The collection is named after this function.
The lamp can be turned on and off by turning the lampshade, creating a neat and clean look, as XXX paradoxically looks like it doesn’t have a switch at all.
