Taccia Table Lamp Bronze is a lamp with a history and a lamp that can keep up with the times in terms of design, even though it is now almost 60 years old.
It is now also available in this small version, which is a little more usable at only 48.5 cm. You get it here in silver.
1958: Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni wanted to design a lamp with indirect light.
December 1958: A prototype of the Taccia was made with a plastic lampshade and base.
1960-1961: After several tests, they had to drop the plastic as the heat from the light source simply deformed the plastic lampshade.
March 1962: Flos made sure to complete the development of the lamp and the final prototype was made with an aluminium reflector and a glass shade that could withstand the heat from the light source.
2010: Flos explores the possibility of making an LED version and this is the first time the iconic lamp is further developed.
2016: Flos tests the use of PMMA for the lampshade. Thanks to the new COB LEDs, which have a minimum of heat generation, it is now possible to produce Taccia with a plastic lampshade, which was the designers' original idea in 1958.
However, the small version is with a glass lampshade.
