The PH 3½-2½ table lamp in white was designed in 1928 and is one of the many development projects carried out by Poul Henningsen in connection with the development of his world-famous three-shade system.
It is based on PH’s original drawings and equipped with the first type of shade holder with screw adjustment. The metal upper shade has a rolled edge, a decorative and stabilising element that, amongst other things, makes the shade look thicker. The two lower shades are manufactured from mouth-blown opal glass. This combination proved a more efficient use of the light source and the light became more downward-facing as a result of the reflection from the upper shade’s white interior.
The frame is brown-painted brass and looks similar to burnished brass surfaces of the original time period, burnishing being a process that is no longer carried out for environmental reasons.
